Migraine Mini: Deep Blue
Migraine has four stages: prodrome, aura, headache, and postdrome. Recent (in the past 15ish years?) research has discovered a lot of new information about prodrome. For instance: prodrome can last as long as several days prior to the onset of the headache. One of the prodrome symptoms my partner and I both experience is a precipitous drop in serotonin. We both get in a big funk. I call it my "square peg, round hole" day. I just feel frustrated and grumpy and annoyed and sad, for reasons that are otherwise indiscernible. Unfortunately, it's often not until I get hit with a headache a few days later that I can look back and recognize what was happening. Boo.

This series is as much about the issues of drug prices as it is about my life with migraine disease. My maintenance medication has a sticker price of $1200 per month. Why do they cost so much? I assume they are made of gold… so I crafted these little golden pills. So each of 30 completed works of art costs as much as one day of my migraine meds: $40
