Because this painting has been sitting in the studio since 2020*, it is listed at a reduced price compared to newer work.
* Update: This piece is on sale at prices for the year it was painted! The list price reflects 2022 price scheme; the sale price reflects the prices I followed in 2020.

When Ricki and I drove through West Yellowstone on our way from Twin Falls to Fargo, a sign warned "Caution: calving season. Watch for bison on rd." We didn't see a single one.
As I drove back to Idaho -- alone -- and came up through Wyoming, I encountered a sizable herd of bison along the highway. At least two dozen touristy types had stopped to take photos, many of them had stepped out of their cars. Two days before seeing this herd, a woman in Yellowstone National Park had been gored after approaching a bison too closely. The week before, a stampede had temporarily closed the highway.
Bison seem chill when they are grazing, but they are massive. An adult male weighs a ton and can run 35 mph. Visitors are warned not to approach the animals, but the people and their cameras were as close as six to ten feet. The recommended minimum safe distance is twenty yards. But you know, white people don't read signs.
